In World War II London, nine-year-old George is evacuated to the countryside by his mother, Rita, to escape the bombings. Defiant and determined to return to his family, George embarks on a journey back home as Rita searches for him. A poignant and heroic tale directed by Steve Macqueen, brimming with great performances, including its young lead Elliot Heffernan and Saoirse Ronan playing his mother. Monday 23rd June at 2pm Getting post to the soldiers serving on the front lines during the Second World War was nightmarish. Three years into the war, there were 17 million pieces of post sitting undelivered. To deal with it, the US Army created the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. The only Women’s Army Corp unit made up of women of colour, it headed overseas in an attempt to sort out the mail and restore morale. Directed by Tyler Perry and starring Kerry Washington.
